I am considering joining UNVA for MBA (finance) and want to complete it in a year so that I can file my GC - EB2 category. Since I learned that UNVA is not really accredited, I wanted to know other options I have to complete MBA or MSc in Finance for about the same price @ UNVA ($405 per credit hour). Any suggestions for me? Also, if I pursue joining UNVA, what will I be giving up? Will I still get to proudly say that I completed MBA in my resume and all?

Your school must be regionally accredited in order for your degree to be considered genuine, and ideally, I *also* want your MBA program to be AACSB accredited. More and more employers now won't hire MBAs if their program wasn't AACSB. You can find a list of all AACSB accredited programs here: http://www.aacsb.edu/accreditation/accreditedmembers.asp But it's the regional accreditation that's vitally important. I'm not even sure if you'd get your green card if you went to UNVA, since it's unaccredited. If you did go there, you risk that employers will not consider your MBA to be genuine. And if you were to go back home to your country and try to use it, you risk it not being recognized. If you are a resident of Virginia, look to see if any public colleges in VA offer an MBA. If they do, then they're likely your least expensive *reputable* option, as you get the lower, in-state rate on tuition - often a very good deal. Most full time MBA programs in the US are two years, not one year. However, there are some accelerated programs, which may be able to get you done in a year or a bit more. ETA: In some states in the US, such as New Jersey, it's actually against the law for you to list an unaccredited degree on your resume. So no, you really couldn't hold your head high if you went to UNVA. I'm sorry. You'll have to look for other options.

Hi; UNVA has accreditation (AUAC which it is international), added to that they are in the process of getting SACS (which it is regional) , and many other improvements. Accreditation is not mandatory, if an institution dose not have accreditation ti dose no mean that its degree dose NOT worth. Please visit the following page; http://www.schev.edu/students/accreditation.asp And no employer will check if a school has accreditation or not, they only look to the skills and competencies. This is wrong too, that you will not your green card because of school accreditation !!!!!! UNVA has certification from government to operate as University and cab also provide Curricular Practical Training (CPT) on F-1 visa. 80% of current MBA student at UNVA work while studying in their field of study. Good Luck Kaveh

Any international accreditation is honorable, but we would like to mention the accreditation of AMBA (The headquarters of this organization is located in the UK). AMBA accreditation currently is given to 161 schools in 72 countries. AMBA is among 3 most influential in the world international accreditations, along with AACSB (USA) and EQUIS (Belgium). Their authority is checked in time, and accredited educational institutions by them, as a rule, are world-renowned brands.
